The winners of this year’s prestigious Pentawards were revealed during a live Gala Ceremony at Magazine London on Friday, October 25, with projects from the Body, Health, and Beauty category receiving awards.
Now in its 18th year, the 2024 competition received over 2,000 entries from 62 countries across five continents, with China, Japan, and the UK receiving the highest number of awards in the Body, Health, and Beauty categories.
The Platinum award in this category went to Aizome Wastecare by Serviceplan Group SE & Co. KG (Germany). The Japanese start-up needed a packaging solution as innovative as its product, which transforms industrial wastewater from textile dyeing into skincare products.
Made from layered, recycled cardboard, the box can be shipped out without any additional packaging and features a dot-and-line design system inspired by a biochemical formula that illustrates Japanese characters for indigo, flow, and cherish. The packaging is also printed with plant-based ink, and each sheet uses data to illustrate plant-based dyeing and its reinvention.
The Sarah Creal makeup line for women over 40, designed by Established (USA) to challenge boring norms, was awarded Gold for its success in appealing to its demographic in a sophisticated yet fun way.
The packaging is described as being both luxurious and quirky, and this clash of styles is visible across the SKUs, including the names: “Back of the Cab” mascara, “The Adults Are Talking” lip balm, and “Firm Offer” eye balm.
Chloe Scanlan, Marketing Manager for Pentawards commented,
“The Body, Health and Beauty category always delivers fascinating and innovative entries, and this year is no exception. From paired-back sustainable materials to punchy colors and creative storytelling, we’ve seen some interesting trends emerging from the category this year and we’re very much looking forward to seeing how these develop.”
Other gold winners in the Body, Health, and Beauty category include Pola Cosmology by Pola Inc. (Japan), Silverskin Flip Box by Advision (Italy), and Xunli, by NX Creative (China).
