The most talented men’s basketball tournament in the history of the Olympics has reached the knockout rounds. The tournament began with 12 teams, and is now down to eight teams after group play finalized the bracket. South Sudan, Japan, Puerto Rico, and Spain are going home, and the rest of the field moves on a single-elimination tournament until a champion is crowned.
The United States enters the knockout round as the No. 1 seed after finishing 3-0 with a +64 margin of victory in group play. Group B winner Germany, the defending FIBA World Cup champion, finished 3-0 at +47 margin. Canada was the lone other undefeated team with a +20 margin.
The top two teams in each group advanced to the knockout round, as well as two wildcard teams who had the best record and point-differential in third place in the group. Greece, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, grabbed one wildcard berth, while Brazil grabbed the other.
The U.S. has won seven of the last eight gold medals in men’s basketball at the Olympics. Here’s the full bracket and schedule for the knockout rounds at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
