EA will unveil new EA Sports App with La Liga

Electronic Arts unveiled its EA Sports App in a partnership with La Liga, the European soccer league in Spain.

The app soft-launches in Spain this fall for iOS and Android devices, and it’s part of EA’s reach beyond games to engage with sports fans around the world, said EA CEO Andrew Wilson, during the company’s 2024 investor day.

The EA Sports App will initially be a socially-driven app, with a combination of sports content, live sports data, social messaging, interactivity and gaming centered on Global Football. EA expects the app to blend real and virtual sports content, to connect, engage and reward fans everywhere through unparalleled access to their favorite sports.

“We’re prioritizing new category opportunities to grow around and beyond our games,” said Cam Weber, head of EA Sports, during the investor presentation. “We also believe that as we strive to lead the future of sports fandom, we can eventually be one massive online community for the broader sportsman audience, connecting fans through a new experience.”

“These first steps are very intentional. We’ll start this fall as the sports app itself that launches in Spain with a focused combination of sports content, lots of data, social messaging, interactivity and gamification around European football, delivering unique content like this can only come from EA Sports,” said David Tinson, chief experiences officer at EA, in the investor talk.

Jorge de la Vega, executive general director of La Liga, said the app is a product with big ambitions.

“We share with EA Sports a strong commitment for enhancing the fan experience in every touch point with our community. The EA Sports App will revolutionize our fans engaged with providing an immersive experience attaches to a sense of both La Liga and EA Sports.”
