PTW, a company that offers support development and support services for game studios, announced today that it’s opening a new office in Charleston, South Carolina. According to PTW, it’s the first office of gaming services in the city, with plans to create hundreds of jobs within a few years. This is PTW’s fourth studio in North America, following its acquisition of Fort Lauderdale-based indie studio Ghostpunch Games earlier this year.
Bernhard Rieder will serve as studio head at PTW Charleston, reporting to Sebastien Bisch, PTW’s VP of operations for the Americas, and will oversee day-to-day operations. According to the company, the Charleston office will feature next-gen testing amenities and will have high-security certification, with the intention of using local talent to offer services to its clients.
Bisch said in a statement, “To better serve our US-based partners, we understand the significance and importance of having a domestic QA solution; the synergies are invaluable. Charleston stood out as the ideal location – it’s a growing tech hub with the perfect blend of proximity and highly skilled talent. PTW is excited to create a center of excellence for the industry within the vibrant Charleston community and we look forward to building a new flagship studio in the US.”
PTW has offered support services to studios such as 2K, Gearbox and Bethesda Game Studios, and its services include quality assurance, player support, localization, community management and data collection among others. In addition to PTW Charleston and Ghostpunch in Fort Lauderdale, the company also has locations in Montreal and Los Angeles.
