Caleb Williams has one big believer in his NFL future

The jury remains out on Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams after just two games.

But the young passer has one big believer in his NFL future.

Houston Texans second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Stroud and the Texans hosted Williams and the Bears on Sunday Night Football, with the Texans coming out on top 19-13 in that game. While Stroud completed 23-of-36 passes for 260 yards and a touchdown, Williams connected on 23-of-37 passes for just 174 yards and an interception. The rookie was also sacked seven times and has yet to throw a touchdown through two games in the league.

Still, when the two met at midfield after the game, Stroud praised the young quarterback. “You are going to be a hell of a player in this league,” Stroud told his counterpart as captured by NFL Films:

Stroud also had some advice for Williams, telling him to “stop taking those hits,” and to “learn from his mistakes.”

Regarding those hits, protecting Williams in the pocket is an area of concern for the Bears. In addition to the seven sacks on Sunday night, he was hit 11 times and pressured on all but one of his dropbacks against the Texans.
