Caleb Williams injury update: Bears QB limps off after taking garbage time hit vs. Cardinals

The Chicago Bears’ season is quickly going off the rails. Chicago was still dealing with the fallout from its last second loss on a Hail Mary last week against the Washington Commanders as it entered Week 9 against the Arizona Cardinals. The Bears needed a win in the worst way, and instead came out flat and overmatched in every aspect of the game.

The Cardinals beat the Bears, 29-9, on Sunday. To make matters worse, rookie quarterback Caleb Williams was hurt on the last play of the game.

Williams limped off the field after taking a big hit with 11 seconds left. Why did head coach Matt Eberflus still have him in the game? Eberflus has become the face of Chicago’s failures, and leaving in your franchise QB to take a needless hit at the end of a blowout is another fireable offense.

Eberflus said that Williams tweaked his ankle on the last play of the game. The coach think he’s fine but Williams will be checked out on Monday to be sure.

Watch the play here:

Williams said it wasn’t his decision to stay in the game:

Williams finished 13-of-20 for 154 yards with zero touchdowns and zero interceptions.

We’ll update this story as updates on his status come out.
