Dezeen Showroom: German brand Wilkahn has released the ON Casual office chair, a new version of a classic design that is celebrating its 15th anniversary.
The ON Casual chair combines the Trimension movement system from Wilkhahn’s 2009 ON office chair with the cosy feeling of sitting in a casual armchair.
It features a concave seat and a newly designed back frame that intersect in such a way as to embrace the body in a more relaxed and casual sitting position. At the same time, Wilkhahn promises the chair encourages even more movement than its predecessor thanks to its lateral support.
The ON office chair was the first to feature Wilkhahn’s Trimension system, a seating design framework that stimulated a variety of three-dimensional movements while keeping the body balanced.
Users can choose from a variety of fabrics, including exclusive upholstery options such as a knitted fabric called Cubes, with a pattern of slim rectangles that dynamically fade out towards the top of the backrest.
A leather cover for the seat and backrest is also being made available in 2025.
