Perxa chair by Piero Lissoni for Viccarbe

Dezeen Showroom: Spanish furniture brand Viccarbe has created a chair in collaboration with architect Piero Lissoni that celebrates Valencian craftsmanship.

The Perxa chair is named after a type of oar used by those navigating the Albufera de València, a freshwater lagoon in eastern Spain.

Wooden elements recall Spanish design heritage

Lissoni used the oar as a starting point when creating the chair, which references the object through its wooden seat, backrest and armrests.

It is supported by a black or white tubular steel frame, and an upholstered seat can be opted for to enhance comfort.

Five shades of wood are available – from light to medium to dark – to suit any interior design scheme.

Despite having an elegant appearance, the chair is durable enough for use in public contexts including workplaces and hospitality venues, as well as private homes.

The Perxa chair is the latest piece released as a result of Viccarbe and Lissoni’s partnership, which has endured since 2011.
